I love the process of painting. The beauty of the materials, stretch of the canvas, squish of the paint, the whole tactile experience becomes part of an intuitive process. Brush strokes are as important as my subject. My decision making process involves leaving spontaneous areas free from overworking, so as not to cover something beautiful. The painting may start with an object or landscape but then takes flight in an unexpected direction. Sometimes I work my way backward through an already prepared canvas with an interesting history. These canvases suggest new forms that allow the archived image to be glimpsed.
Above all I love the interaction between a viewer and my art-please feel free to touch the paintings!
